Why not keep the interlocal agreement?

Wow, I saw this good piece of reporting on the TV news yesterday. Finally a reporter who seemed to have done some research on what is going on in the area. BTW, to the neighbor that was interviewed, nice looking Rooster! Here is the link to the Channel 3 news covering the problems being created in the RNP by the County and City not agreeing to continue the Interlocal Agency Agreement that has worked for the past 10 years.

One can still not comprehend and wonder why and to amazement how a City Commissioner who’s name appears on almost every single piece of Annexation documentation at the City’s Recommendation Meetings (Yes that is you Steve Ross), has the nerve to run for a seat as a County Commissoner?

What does he hope to accomplish? Will he change sides and work towards securing an agreement with the City? Why doesn’t he work hard on that now that he is in the City to secure an agreement and stop destroying these neighborhoods he professes to serve?  It is mind boggling to say the least, but one can certainly understand who is backers are by looking at who is pouring in the money into the campaigns!

The list reads like a who’s who of land speculators and land developers. No wonder the neighborhoods have to fight so hard to keep their living standards in check. It’s a tough fight when this kind of money is behind the scenes!

Remember, the old saying.. FOLLOW THE MONEY!

Why would you purchase a home from DR Horton?

As the wind howls through the valley and the 60mph winds blow through the future DR Horton Bellaria development here in the desert, it’s days like these you have to behave as a tortoise and stay in yer bunker reading reviews about DR Horton on the internet. Wow is all I can say after reading the scathing reviews  at the Consumer Affairs site. Click Here to see for yourselves.

Well it comes as no surprise, you see DR Horton is a huge company. They build homes all over the United States. They are listed on the Stock Market and their shares trade there and investors purchase these shares. You see when you have investors to answer to, it comes down to only one thing, Bottom Line. The Board of Directors, President etc, has to get on the phone every so often and tell the investors what they are doing to increase the value of their shares. I’d imagine that at some point cutting corners and using lower grade material would not be out of the question in order to increase profit margin. What do you think?

Watch very carefully when they build these homes. Do you see 30 year roofing material going on the roof, nice thick black heavy felt black material, or the cheap plastic junk they use as underlayment which according to a friend in the roofing business loves because he says and I quote “It’s job security for me!”.

What else have they cut corners on, are the streets narrower than usual, what about the size of the lots?

It comes as no surprise that the Final Map submitted to the City Engineers as of March 28th, 2016 has been DENIED again in the flood/drainage section. Why? What corners are they cutting now?

As they say, BUYER BEWARE!

Is Councilman Ross and the City soliciting Developers?

At the Monday, February 29th, City of Las Vegas Recommending Committee meeting, more County parcels were annexed most of which were sponsored by Councilman Ross. A few neighbors attended the meeting and had some very interesting questions for the folks there! You should listen to the audio of this meeting, it’s very enlightening. You can listen to it here in windows media player: MEETING AUDIO. If that doesn’t work we have an MP3 Version: MP3 VERSION

It was interesting how the Staff person said that the parcel was owned by BLM but they don’t request annexation however they do send them a letter that they are not against it (AFTER THE CITY SENDS THEM A LETTER ASKING IF IT’S OK!).  So

Fact 1: The land is owned by BLM and the City is Annexing it. why?

Later on as Councilman Ross is being questioned by one of the Public regarding the annexation of the property at Regena and Hualapai, he mentions that the Developer is DR Horton and they requested it. WHOA Wait a minute. The BLM still owns this property, I don’t think it has even gone to auction yet so how can DR Horton even be involved? I want to know why is it that every other  word out of Councilman Ross’s mouth is how wonderful a developer DR Horton is! It sounds like a bromance to me.

Now THIS IS TRULY SCARY, listen as Councilman Ross states over and over again and again how Hualapai is going to be all Commercial! He says it’s been planned like that for years and even the County knew about it, it’s all going Commercial!! Does this JimBob know what he is even talking about? If he’s right then that is truly scary for the neighborhood(s)!

You know what they say, the cow pies in the field don’t start stinking till you stir them up! We need the public to start stiring things up even more, something dastardly is going on!

But wait, there is more!! Read the actual Bill that was passed. A pdf copy of it is right here: CLV-Annexation-Bill-No.2016-13.pdf

I hope they are ready for one big fight, even if the people have to get dirty. Read what that says mainly the section stating “TO MAKE IT’S INHABITANTS SUBJECT TO THE LAWS, OBLIGATIONS AND BENEFITS OF THE CITY”. They want to rule over you! Think you can have your Rural Life? Think again!

Now keep reading folks, “curbs and gutters, sidewalks and street lights which are not in place at the time of annexation will be installed in the presently developed areas upon request of the property owners and at their expense by means of special assessment districts.”

Now ok you say well the new neighbors will ruin our way of life by requesting street lights etc, but at least they will have to pay for them. WAIT! There is more.. “Such improvements will be extended into the undeveloped areas as development takes place and the need therefor arises, and will be located according to the needs of the area at that time.”

Who determines the needs? THEY DO!! You will have no say!

It’s time to fight and I mean now!
